Colstim 300 Mcg Prefilled Syringe contains Filgrastim, a human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog. It stimulates the growth of white blood cells and helps reduce the likelihood of infection in patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. Patients with blood disorders should not use this medicine. Colstim is manufactured by Zydus Cadila and is available at pharmacies and medical supply stores by prescription only. This product is equivalent to the USA brand Neupogen. Colstim is used in the treatment of neutropenia caused by chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, peripheral progenitor cell transplantation, chronic neutropenia, and neutropenia caused by radiation. It works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce white blood cells, which protect the body from infections. Filgrastim is produced using recombinant DNA technology and aids in the maturation and release of neutrophils from the bone marrow.
